Samsung 'GT-i9300' sighted in Brazil, probably not the Galaxy S III
Update: Sources for The Verge have denied that this model is the Galaxy S III, saying it's "not even close to the final design," and adding "no leaks of the final design have been accurate."
Original story: If you've been following the stories of rumored devices within Samsung's 2012 line-up, you may be familiar with a phone with the product number GT-i9300. When we first caught a glimpse of this device in late March, it was rocking a buttonless setup, with software-based on-screen keys in the style of the Galaxy Nexus. But if the latest set of leaked images from ?Gizmodo Brazil? are to be believed, then the phone may have grown a set of physical buttons over the past month. Photos have leaked today claiming to show the front and back of the device, and aside from the different button setup, they match last month's leaked pics pretty closely. Note the front-facing camera position and the trim around the device's corners.
The images are reportedly from a manufacturing source, which claims the GT-i9300 is a high-end product, with a 12MP rear camera (with dual-LED flash) and a high-quality display. It's also reportedly thinner than the Galaxy S II, but slightly heavier, with a larger screen. Whether it's Samsung's next flagship phone -- under the Galaxy S III name or some other branding -- remains to be seen.
As we discussed yesterday, we still know almost nothing about Samsung's next-gen plans. But all will be revealed at the launch event in London on May 3, and we'll be there to bring you full coverage of whatever's unveiled.

Google Maps updated with 'critical bug fix'
We're not sure exactly what's involved in the 'critical bug' that's just been fixed in Google Maps for Android, but if you're a Maps user (and we're guessing most of you are), you'd best head to that apps list and get updating. The new Google Maps version 6.5.1 offers just a single bullet point in its change list -- "includes a critical bug fix." It seems whatever the issue is, it affects both tablets and phones alike, as we're seeing the update on our Honeycomb devices too.
Head to "My Apps" list in the Google Play Store to grab the new version of Maps. And be sure to shout out in the comments if you've noticed anything different in this new version.

Grounded space shuttles find new homes
NASA's retired space shuttle orbiters are making their way to museums around the country.
The now-retired space shuttle orbiters will soon be heading to their new museum homes. April 17, 2012 is the current date planned for a modified Boeing 747 to give a piggyback ride to shuttle Discovery to bring it from Kennedy Space Center to Washington Dulles International Airport, where it will then be towed to the National Air and Space Museum?s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, located adjacent to the airport. Just how will this be done? The video above explains the procedure, and of course, this is not the first time a space shuttle has ridden atop the specially designed airplane. Every time a shuttle landed in Edwards Air Force Base in California (54 times) or New Mexico (once), it had to be transported back to Kennedy Space Center via an airplane.

The special airplane, NASA 905, will then be paired up with the test space shuttle, Enterprise, which has been at the Smithsonian, but is now heading to Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York. The current date for that flight is April 23, but all the dates are dependent on the weather.
Later this year, probably September, the NASA 905 will bring shuttle Endeavour to Los Angeles to the California Science Center. The flight path has not yet been determined, but for those living in the mid-section of the US, be on the lookout for more information of flyovers and places where the shuttle will be stopping during its final flight.
Shuttle Atlantis will be displayed at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor?s Complex in Florida.

Google puts False Start SSL experiment down, nobody notices
Back in September of 2010 Google started experimenting with a new Chrome feature called False Start, which cut the latency of SSL handshakes by up to 30 percent. While the delay in forging a secure connection never seemed like a major concern for most, the pause (which could be several hundred milliseconds long) before a browser starts pulling in actual content was too much to swallow for Mountain View engineers. The tweak to SLL was a somewhat technical one that involved packaging data and instructions normally separated out -- reducing the number of round trips between a host and a client before content was pulled in. Unfortunately, False Start has proven incompatible with a number of sites, in particular those that rely on dedicated encryption hardware called SSL Terminators. Chrome used a blacklist to track unfriendly sites, but maintaining that repository proved more difficult than anticipated and became quite unwieldy. Despite reportedly working with over 99 percent of websites Adam Langley, a Google security researcher, has decided that False Start should be retired with version 20 of the company's browser. The change will likely go unnoticed by most users, but it's always a shame to see efforts to make the web as SPDY as possible fail.

Cruise ship to retrace voyage of Titanic
LONDON (AP) ? A cruise carrying relatives of some of the more than 1,500 people who died aboard the Titanic nearly 100 years ago set sail from England on Sunday to retrace the ship's voyage, including a visit to the location where it sank.
The Titanic Memorial Cruise, carrying the same number of passengers ? not including crew ? as the Titanic did, cast off from Southampton, where the doomed vessel left on its maiden voyage. The 12-night cruise will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the White Star liner.
Waving passengers crowded the decks as the ship prepared to set sail, many dressed in period costumes as first-class passengers, crew members, steerage passenger and stewards.
Graham Free was dressed as an Edwardian gentleman and described his excitement for the cruise as he waited to board.
"I have been a fan of the Titanic since I was nine years old and this cruise is the closest you are going to get to it," said the 37 year old. "The trip has cost a considerable amount, but I wanted to do it."
Fellow cruiser Carmel Bradburn, 55, who lives in Australia, described herself as "fanatical" about the Titanic and struck back at accusations that retracing the doomed voyage is in poor taste.
"I don't think the cruise is morbid. It's like saying Gallipoli is morbid or commemorating the (Crimean) war," she said. "Remembering those who died is not morbid."
With 1,309 passengers aboard, the MS Balmoral will follow the same route as the Titanic ? though the Balmoral had to leave two days earlier than the Titanic did because it is a small and slower vessel.
The memorial cruise was also slightly delayed because of high winds. A spokeswoman said the MS Balmoral arrived Monday at the town of Cobh, on Ireland's southern coast, about two hours later than scheduled due to the bad weather. Cobh, once known as Queenstown, was the Titanic's last port of call before it crossed the Atlantic in April 1912.
The Balmoral is operated by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, whose parent company, Harland and Wolff, built the Titanic in Belfast. It has been chartered for the event by Miles Morgan Travel, which specializes in tailor-made holidays.
The organizers are trying to recreate the onboard experience ? minus the disaster ? including the food and a live band playing music from that era, in a tribute to Titanic's musicians who reportedly played their instruments until the ship sank.
People from 28 countries have booked passage, organizers said, including relatives of some of the more than 1,500 people who died when the Titanic collided with an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912, in international waters in the North Atlantic. Other passengers include relatives of the around 700 survivors, along with authors and historians.
The tickets varied in cost from 2,799 pounds ($4,445) to 5,995 pounds ($9,520).
Over the course of the voyage, passengers will attend lectures by Titanic experts such as Philip Littlejohn, grandson of a Titanic survivor. Littlejohn said he is sure his grandfather would be proud to know his story would be shared with passengers on the Titanic Memorial Cruise.
"It will be an emotional moment when we are over the wreck site, where I dived in 2001 and where my grandfather left Titanic rowing Lifeboat 13," he said.
While on board, passengers also will dine on meals based around dishes served in April 1912, with a formal dinner on April 13 made up entirely of dishes served aboard the Titanic.
Cruise organizers have set up a special memorial service on April 14 to start at 11:40 p.m. to mark the moment Titanic hit the iceberg, and later at the exact moment when the ship sank.
The cruise is among an abundance of commemorations and memorials to the reputedly unsinkable ship that have sprung up to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's doomed voyage.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ? In 2000, no one had a voice like 12-year-old Billy Gilman. But when puberty temporarily took that away, he had to find another passion.
The former child-prodigy, who sold over 2 million copies of his debut album, "One Voice,' returned to a normal life and started volunteering.
Now that he can sing again, Gilman, 23, is using his talent to give back. He co-wrote a song called "The Choice," and all the proceeds are going to the organization Soles4Souls, which provides shoes for children and adults in need around the world. The track features Gilman and 18 of country music's top artists each singing a line or two, including Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban and LeAnn Rimes. Fans can pre-order the song starting Thursday, and it will be available to download April 16.
"I couldn't imagine not having a pair of shoes, not just for the sake of being comfortable and looking cool, but I never thought until I got really involved that shoes enable you to get a job," said Gilman in a recent interview.
He points out that you can't walk into a building, a school or a restaurant without shoes, and says, "It really is more than giving a pair of shoes so the kid can look hip and cool. It's a way of life."
Songwriters Dan Murph and Philip Douglas brought up "The Choice" idea to Gilman in a songwriting session as they worked on material for his new album. The three of them finished the song, and in two weeks they had approached Soles4Souls and recorded a demo. Then Gilman started contacting friends in the music business.
He reached out to Rimes on Twitter, and she responded right back. Both Urban and Reba instantly said, "Tell me when."
"It's amazing to see the camaraderie," said Gilman.
A handful of artists recorded on their bus while on tour, including Kenny Rogers. Gilman was especially thrilled to get him for the record, because Rogers was part of the original "We Are The World" recording and understood the effect artists can have when they come together for a cause.
The goal is to place 500,000 pairs of shoes on people worldwide through sales of the song and donations. One dollar will buy a pair of new or gently used shoes. A 30 second sneak peek of the music video featuring Gilman and footage from Haiti will begin airing in Regal Cinemas for two weeks starting April 13. The full video premieres on CMT April 16.
Other artists participating on "The Choice" include Rodney Atkins, Montgomery Gentry, Amy Grant, Steve Holy, Wynonna Judd, Richie McDonald, Vince Gill, Ronnie Milsap, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, Diamond Rio, Randy Travis, and Josh Turner.
After his voice-changing struggle, Gilman says he has even more appreciation for his music career.
"Singing is what I am, so when it was gone, it was very hard. But it was a good time to go back home and rekindle friendships, be with my family and get my head straight, and figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life," said Gilman. "As my voice started to come back, I said, 'This is all I am.' Coming back to Nashville and writing, doing projects like this, it's what I am."

In celebration of National Physical Therapy Month in October, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is teaming up with Pacers Running Stores to raise awareness among the running community about injury prevention and improving performance. The education initiative leads up to the 36th annual Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on October 30, which annually attracts nearly 30,000 runners.
