Yoga - Fitness Alternative

I love doing yoga. I cannot say that I am an expert or a convert to yoga lifestyle but I love how it builds body endurance and it builds body strength.

At first, I was very apprehensive in trying out yoga. I thought the poses would be so difficult that I might end up making a fool of myself. But when I entered my very first yoga class, the yoga instructor was very helpful, friendly and asking me a lot of questions before the class started. By the time the other students arrived, she started class with the knowledge that I am practically a beginner. Thankfully, I was not alone and there were other people who are first timers in that class.

Yoga is more than another type of exercise but it is mainly a way to discipline the mind and the body. It does not require a lot of equipment. You only need a mat when practicing yoga.

There are many yoga poses that you can study online.

The most common that I found online and one that I learned in the class is the sun salutation. I did not care to learn other poses because I might not really know the proper way of doing it. So, I downloaded and printed a copy of the Sun Salutation.

Every morning I wake up and do Sun Salutation in the comfort of my own bedroom. Again, it does not take a lot of equipment and space. I do not even have to play music and just try to keep the mind really quiet. I try to do repetition of Sun Salutation and I do get to sweat after. It is a calming exercise, I get to lose some weight in the process and it did not cost me a lot. If I get bored and feeling industrious, I would put on my running shoes and jog near my place. Yoga is something has its own benefits that just about anybody can do. It is something that you can add to your daily form of exercise.

As I grow older, I become more conscious about my body weight. I used to have rock abs because I was into dancing when I was still in school. After graduation, I started to put on some weight and it got the best of me. Now, I am always finding out ways to stay fit, doing some exercise even when I am at home. It is a great way to de-stress aside from getting a seated massage.
